The Hackers Tool Backtrack Introduction-Part 1

If you have a little creative mind you may already heard about backtrack, the tool most of the hackers and crackers use for their work.Well in this article i am giving a little introduction about getting started with backtrack and what it actually is.Like Ubuntu, it is also linux based operating system which you can dual boot with your windows or you can also use live cd option if just want to try.In first looks the dragon icon (sort of) of backtrack and its scrolling text while booting give a hackers feel, but the question  arise how usefull it is it and what you can do with it, well wait and read this and all other backtrack articles to get started and get your hands dirty.

Like most of the linux based os it is completely free to use.The website  of backtrack says "Welcome to Backtrack-Linux.org, home of the highest rated and acclaimed Linux security distribution to date. BackTrack is a Linux-based penetration testing arsenal that aids security professionals in the ability to perform assessments in a purely native environment dedicated to hacking. Regardless if you’re making BackTrack you Install BackTrack, boot it from a Live DVD or thumbdrive, the penetration distribution has been customized down to every package, kernel configuration, script and patch solely for the purpose of the penetration tester."
It is actually collection of all necessary softwares and programs which big guys use for checking their system and improving their security.But you are upto yourself for using it for any purpose :p like you may want to test your wifi network, is it strong enough or you can check how easily your system can be compromised(believe me ).
So lets get started, before proceeding any further i want to tell you this guide is only for educational and ethical hacking , and i may be not responsible for any harm to your pc or any nuclear bomb cia will drop on your house after you hack their network!.First you need to install backtrack , you can download the backtrack iso from their site and then burn it to a dvd drive and boot it.You can also try booting from usb drive but that didn't work for me( and many other people).It seems to having any problem from booting from usb.You may need to press space or enter to start backtrack after your bios recognizes it.After some scrolling texts you may (and you will) come across a screen like this,just type "startx" (without quotes) and press enter and with some more scrolling text ,the backtrack will start.
